In her first State of the City speech, Applyrs urges residents to ‘show up’ for Albany

In delivering her first State of the City address Tuesday, Albany Mayor Dorcey Applyrs focused on her early accomplishments and plans for improving public safety, quality of life and infrastructure issues.

In describing her vision in the one-hour speech, Applyrs urged residents to help her in “turning the lights back on” and “showing up” for Albany.

“My job has always been to listen first, and I have spent a lot of time with my headphones on over course of three years of campaigning,” she told a crowd in the Albany West Community Center. “Tonight isn’t just about one track, its about the full mix. Turning the lights back on only works if we keep them on.”…
