Armed confrontation leads to multiple charges for Ballston Spa man (WRGB)

Saratoga County, NY (WRGB) — New York State Police, with assistance from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a Ballston Spa man following an armed confrontation outside the Saratoga County Public Safety Building on Monday.

State Police said 37-year-old Andrew Provencher of Ballston Spa, was taken into custody in connection with the incident and now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

Provencher was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D felony)
  • Assault in the 2nd Degree (Class D felony)
  • Unlawful Wearing of a Body Vest (Class E felony)
  • Resisting Arrest (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration (Class A misdemeanor)

According to State Police, the incident began on January 26, 2026, around 12:27 p.m., when law enforcement responded to a report of a suspicious person outside the Saratoga County Public Safety Building on County Farm Road in Ballston Spa…
