COLONIE — Genoa Importing, a market, deli and sandwich shop for more than 35 years, closed abruptly and permanently on Thursday, saying in an online announcement that the “very difficult decision” was based on rising costs and the economy in general.
The shuttering comes after a burst water pipe forced an early closure on Saturday morning, and a sign on the front door indicates the business was closed Tuesday and Wednesday for equipment maintenance.
