Troy Police Department reaches full staffing for first time in years

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After a major decrease in crime in 2025, the City of Troy also celebrated another milestone on Tuesday: a fully staffed police department. Some other local city departments have not reached full staff yet, but they shared great progress and how they’re hoping to get there.

“Officers, today marks the beginning of a career built on service, sacrifice and responsibility,” said Carmella Mantello, mayor of the City of Troy. “We love you, you’re part of our family now, congratulations!”

11 new police officers were sworn into the Troy Police Department on Tuesday morning. One of the men, Morgan Mason shared that he has been waiting for this moment for a while.

“My whole life my father has been a police officer and I’ve always looked up to him,” said Mason. “I just want to help people and I just want to try to fill his shoes and do the best that I can at the job.”…
