Albany man sentenced to prison for possessing ghost gun

Albany, NY (WRGB) — A 31-year-old Albany man, Russell Gibson, has been sentenced to four and a half years in state prison for possessing an illegal firearm, according to Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon. The sentence, handed down by Judge William Little, also includes three years of post-release supervision. Gibson pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

The case stems from an April 22, 2025, incident when Albany Police executed a search warrant at a First Street address as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the search, police discovered Gibson in possession of a small quantity of crack cocaine, a digital scale, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution.
