K-9 Bruno retires after 11 years and 500 police missions in Upstate NY city

An Upstate New York police department announced the retirement of K-9 Bruno, a narcotics detection and patrol dog who served the community for 11 years.

Bruno, born in the Czech Republic in 2013, was purchased by the Amsterdam Police Department in 2014 through community donations. Throughout his career, he was partnered with Officer A.J. Fiorillo and became certified by New York State in patrol, tracking and narcotics detection.

The police dog was deployed more than 500 times for high-risk search warrants, traffic stops, tracking suspects and missing persons, crowd control, narcotics investigations, and assisting other agencies throughout the Capital District…
