COHOES, NY (WRGB) — Families in Albany County braved the cold to enjoy the annual Winter Carnival at Van Schaick Island Pond in Cohoes on Saturday. Despite the wicked winds and frigid temperatures, the event drew a lively crowd eager to partake in the festivities.
Dale McKay from Cohoes, who attended with his two-year-old daughter Francesca, shared, “Just all bundled up and covering all the bear skin and that does the trick!” He added, “It’s a tradition we come to every year, she’s getting older now, and do it for the kids.”
The carnival, hosted by the city, offered a variety of activities including pond hockey, a big bonfire, and games. Attendees could also enjoy delicious s’mores, snacks, and good eats from the grill. Aalia Inayat of Pakistan, said, “My sister, she actually goes to the school. And she told us there was going to be a Carnival and we said, ‘why not go?'”…
