2 cats rescued in Niskayuna house fire

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Several departments responded to a house fire in Niskayuna on Saturday, according to Niskayuna Fire District No. 1. The incident reportedly occurred on the 2000 block of Englewood Avenue.

The Niskayuna Fire District was dispatched to the scene at about 3:05 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the roof had collapsed and heavy flames were coming out of every window on the first and second floors.

Authorities said there were no people inside the home when the fire was discovered, though two cats were rescued prior to the fire department’s arrival.

According to Niskayuna fire officials, weather conditions brought significant challenges to suppression efforts. Winds reportedly fueled the fire and caused exposure concerns with nearby buildings.
