WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police arrested two teens on Sunday after a stolen car investigation in Watervliet. The minors, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, whose names weren’t released due to their ages, both face felony charges.

On February 8 just before 9:30 a.m., State Police responded to the parking lot of the Walmart on Hoosick Road in Brunswick following up on reports regarding a stolen SUV in the vicinity. During the resulting search, troopers found the vehicle around 10:40 a.m. in Watervliet.
When troopers tried to pull the SUV over, the driver, later identified as the 14-year-old, allegedly refused to stop, leading to a brief chase with State Police. After initially evading law enforcement, the SUV reportedly crashed into another car on Second Street in Watervliet, ending the pursuit at 10:53 a.m.
Man sentenced in Clifton Park vehicular assault case
The teen driver and the 15-year-old passenger were taken into custody at the scene. The ensuing investigation revealed that the 15-year-old allegedly stole, crashed, and abandoned a second car near North Pearl Street in Albany prior to their drive in Watervliet. The two now face the following charges:
14-year-old
- Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Second-degree reckless endangerment
- Fourth-degree criminal mischief
15-year-old
- Third-degree grand larceny
- Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
Both teens were released to their guardians after being issued appearance tickets to Albany County Family Court. Watervliet Police assisted State Police with the investigation.
