Cohoes man arrested after crash on I-787

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police arrested a Cohoes man over the weekend after a car crash in Watervliet. Dennis Green, 27, faces multiple charges.

On February 7, State Police responded to I-787 northbound in Watervliet around 2 a.m. following up on reports of a two-car crash in the area. Arriving troopers determined that Green had allegedly struck another car from behind, causing the other vehicle to collide with a nearby guardrail, while his own car slammed into the concrete median and caught on fire.

According to investigators, Green and a front seat passenger were able to exit the burning car on their own, while an unconscious backseat passenger was helped out of the vehicle by good Samaritans in the vicinity. The backseat passenger was taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Green’s front passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were both tended to at local hospitals for minor injuries. Green was taken into custody at the scene on Saturday and was reportedly found by law enforcement to have a blood alcohol content of 0.16% at the time of the incident.

Green was charged with second-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. He was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment in Colonie Town Court…
