Albany man sentenced for stealing $230K in benefits from state retiree

ALBANY — A city man has been sentenced to two to six years in prison for his role in a scheme that involved stealing $230,000 in benefits from a state retiree.

Devin Zielinski, 35, pleaded guilty to felony third-degree grand larceny in April 2025. He was sentenced on Wednesday by Judge Jennifer Sober in Rensselaer County Court, according to a news release from the state comptroller’s office.

Zielinski failed to appear at his previously scheduled sentencing in June, according to the comptroller. Police found and arrested him in Cohoes on Oct. 10…
