TROY — In 2015, Troy resident Octavia Maxwell, who was 23 years old at the time, started experimenting with ingredients like shea butter and oils at home to create natural skin and hair care products.
Years later, in 2017, she founded Skin Deep Naturals. She’s since sold over 10,000 products — from body butters and lotions to hair masks and serums.
“This wasn’t accidental. I want people to feel confident in their skin and hair and feel beautiful and radiant,” said Maxwell, now 34, reflecting on her elementary school years when she struggled to access products to help treat her extremely dry skin and hair loss. “I keep my formulations simple, clean and natural.
