Man stabs restaurant employee, then runs to confess to a state trooper in Upstate NY

A 22-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a restaurant employee in Upstate New York and then running to a state trooper to confess to the crime.

Shayne F. Vaccaro was taken into custody without incident around 10:19 p.m. on Sunday after he approached a New York State Police patrol vehicle on State Route 67 in Malta and told the trooper he had just stabbed someone. The trooper had been clearing a traffic stop when Vaccaro ran toward the vehicle.

Additional patrols responded to a nearby restaurant in the Shops of Malta, where they found a 34-year-old male employee suffering from stab wounds to his chest and arm. A Saratoga County sheriff’s deputy applied a tourniquet at the scene, and emergency medical services treated the victim before transporting him to Albany Medical Center.
