State Police: Man waits outside Malta KFC, knifes worker

MALTA — A 22-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after State Police said he waited outside a KFC restaurant and attacked a worker as he went to leave Sunday night.

Shayne F. Vaccaro ran up to a trooper conducting a traffic stop around 10:19 p.m. on Route 67 and said he had just stabbed someone, according to State Police. He was taken into custody as law enforcement headed to the KFC, where they found a 34-year-old worker with stab wounds to his chest and arm.

The worker had ended his shift when Vaccaro attacked him with a knife, troopers said. A Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputy applied a tourniquet, and emergency medical services staff treated the worker before he was brought to Albany Medical Center.
