Police raids lead to arrests in spate of Albany robberies

ALBANY — Cash, an Apple watch and a pizza were among the items stolen in a series of robberies five city residents were charged Wednesday with carrying out in recent months, Albany police said.

The arrests were carried out as part of three separate police raids Wednesday morning, with assistance from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Albany police said in an update late Wednesday night.

Two 19-year-olds were arrested on weapons and robbery charges at a Washington Avenue home near Quail Street. One allegedly stole cash and a pizza from a Domino’s employee while armed with a handgun last Tuesday on Spring Street near Quail Street. The other followed someone into his Orange Street home with a handgun on Feb. 4 and stole an iPad, Apple watch, phone and other items, police said.
