WATERFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The owner of Joyful Beginnings, a Waterford daycare, is facing felony charges, and the childcare facility will be closing permanently. Parents said that the closure was completely unexpected.
NEWS10 received a message from a concerned parent of a child of Joyful Beginnings. She said that she received a letter telling her that the childcare facility would be closing just days later.

NEWS10’s Amber Fisher visited Joyful Beginnings on Thursday, February 19 and spoke with a staff member who asked to not be identified. The staff member could not comment on the situation.

According to the Waterford Police Department, Jason Wellington is the owner of the daycare. He was arrested by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, and is charged with two counts of Grand Larceny and eleven counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing.
