Disguised detective sat in for killer’s TV confession. Lawyer wants video kept from jury.

ALBANY — Lawyers for Lorenz Kraus want the television news interview in which he admitted to killing and burying his elderly parents kept out of his upcoming murder trial.

Chief Assistant Public Defender Rebekah Sokol characterized WRGB-CBS 6 anchor Greg Floyd’s methodical Sept. 25 interview with Kraus as a 30-minute interrogation that took place in a “quasi-police” environment — an environment which included the presence of at least one State Police investigator disguised as a news photojournalist.

According to an excerpt from the grand jury testimony filed as part of the prosecution’s response to Sokol’s motion, the investigator said he was allowed to “act as a cameraman” while Floyd, who is now retired, conducted the interview…
