Six years ago, an aquatic center, then proposed for Malta, was set to cost $22 million. Then, in 2021, plans changed and called for building the facility at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady for $36 million.
The proposal was subsequently shifted to the Via Port Rotterdam mall, before county lawmakers decided two years ago that the aquatic center should be built at SUNY Schenectady, in the city’s downtown.
The cost? $41.7 million…
