Things have been rough for many in the retail and restaurant world in the early part of 2026. It feels like we’re learning of more closures each day around the Capital Region, and unfortunately it’s likely not over.
We have had to say goodbye to many of our favorites and local spots. That would include the Applebees in Glenville, and a Stewart’s in Mechanicville. 2026 is also seeing the closure of over 350 Wendy’s locations, though we don’t know how many of those might be around New York.
You have to ask yourself when will we stop losing places that we love?…
