East Greenbush Police Department to get new headquarters

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The East Greenbush Police Department will receive $850,000 for a new headquarters. It will also get bulletproof vests, as part of a $30 million dedication in federal funding to help police departments around the state acquire the safety accessories.

Officials say the new site will be centrally located and reduce long-term maintenance costs. The construction of a new headquarters is something that some lawmakers believe is long overdue.

“The current building that has served this community, it served the community well, but it’s old, it’s expensive to maintain and it just doesn’t meet the needs of a modern police department. Frankly, guys, you deserve better,” said Congressman Josh Riley at the announcement event on February 26.

The additional federal funding for the bulletproof vests comes as a result of the Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program being signed into law. In September 2025, the East Greenbush Police Department also received $380,000 in state funding for technology upgrades, including new computers, monitors and portable radios.
