Cohoes man charged in shots fired incident

COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Cohoes man has been charged in connection to a shots fired incident on Friday, February 20 near Main Street. According to the Cohoes Police Department, Christopher Kelly Jr., 18, allegedly shot a gun during an argument.

Police said around 9:50 p.m. they were called to the area of Main and Schuyler Streets for reports of a gunshot. During an preliminary investigation of the scene, officers found an apparent bullet hole in the front fender of a parked car.

According to the police department, during the investigation, officers canvassed the neighborhood and reviewed surveillance footage in the area, which revealed that several people were arguing in the street when one took allegedly took out a gun and fired once.

Officers said there were no reported injuries from the incident and through further investigation, police identified Kelly as the suspect.

Charges:

  • Second degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Loaded Firearm)
  • Second degree Criminal Use of a Firearm (Display of a Weapon)
  • First degree Reckless Endangerment

Police said Kelly was arrainged in Cohoes City Court and was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. Police are asking anyone with additional informaiton to contact officers at (518)233-2161 or (518)419-2763 as the investigation continues…
