Gas shutoff valve hit by vehicle in Troy

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A ruptured gas line was reported in the area of 120th Street and 7th Avenue on Tuesday evening. Evacuated residents have since been let back inside.

According to Troy Fire Chief Richard Cellucci, a gas shutoff valve located in a snowbank was hit by a vehicle, but they are unsure what vehicle hit it at this point in time. The surrounding houses in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The mayor’s office said the gas was turned off and two houses were affected. Though they are unsure how many homes were actually evacuated. Additionally, officials said the leak doesn’t seem to be due to a plow hitting the gas line, as was previously thought.
