Code Blue issued in Albany County

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy announced Wednesday that a Code Blue has been declared in accordance with the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society. The alert will be in effect beginning Wednesday night, through Saturday March 7.

The Code Blue program is designed to reduce barriers for homeless people seeking shelter. The alert is called when “feels like” temperatures are expected to be 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less, including wind chill.

Homeless residents in need of shelter in Albany County can go to:

  • Capital City Rescue Mission: 259 South Pearl Street
  • Safe Haven Drop-in Center: 26 South Swan Street

People in need of shelter can also call the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society’s hotline at (518)-463-2124. Joseph’s House Outreach Services also offers emergency provision and shelter navigation for unhoused residents during Code Blue. Call (518)-495-0663 if you or someone you know is in need.
