MENANDS, N.Y. (WRGB) — An eighth grader from Menands will represent his district at a regional spelling bee—and English isn’t even his first language.
Mohamed Elhadi, 14, is more proficient in his second language than many students are in their first. His first language is Arabic, and now he’s competing in an English language regional spelling bee.
