Trooper rescues injured owl on Thruway in Coeymans

COEYMANS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police commended Trooper Maryam Ibrahim on Wednesday for rescuing an injured Great Horned Owl in Albany County. Trooper Ibrahim located the bird on the side of the road along the Thruway in Coeymans.

State Police said the Great Horned Owl appeared to have been hit by a vehicle on the highway. The animal was taken to Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital (CDVRH) in Latham to be evaluated, and NEWS10 confirmed with CDVRH that the owl has since been released to the care of a private wildlife rehabilitator.
