A hunter recently paid a $1,200 fine related to the illegal take of deer in Columbia County in November when two New York Department of Environmental Conservation police officers discovered four antlered deer in a trailer in Ghent during an investigation.
ECOs determined that the hunter poached all four deer and unlawfully tagged them with tags belonging to other people.
The officers charged the hunter with four misdemeanors for illegally taking big game, in addition to lesser tickets for the tagging violations. They also confiscated the deer as evidence.
