Steve McLaughlin threatens to veto $1.9M ATEC contract change

EAST GREENBUSH — Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin warned the chair of the County Legislature in a letter on Tuesday that he would veto a proposal to pay contractors for costs accrued during a monthslong stop-work order at Hudson Valley Community College.

County legislators reviewed McLaughlin’s letter to Chairwoman Kelly Hoffman, which stated — among a list of concerns associated with construction of the Applied Technology Education Center — that money shouldn’t go toward a project initially halted for operating on campus without a permit.
