ALBANY — Mayor Dorcey Applyrs is implementing wide-ranging austerity measures on city departments, including an across-the-board hiring freeze, amid concerns about the city’s financial health.
The mayor’s office estimates this year’s budget has a $15 million budget deficit. The deficit is projected to grow to $22 million next year if the city’s financial problems are not addressed.
