ALBANY — Blame it all on the business model that was “doomed” to fail.
Disgraced Albany loan broker Kris Roglieri’s lawyer, federal public defender Jeremy Sporn, said the businessman facing prison time for fleecing clients out of $55 million committed his crimes after he fell victim to fraud that threatened his company’s existence.
Sporn described how Roglieri fell victim to private placement fraud in a sentencing memorandum sent to U.S. District Court Judge Mae D’Agostino, who will sentence the former owner of Prime Capital Ventures on April 3. The U.S. attorney’s office wants Roglieri to serve between 8 and 10 years in prison, while Sporn asked the judge to sentence him to 4 to 6 years.
