Families share concerns about St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center closure

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center leadership spoke to the families of patients who need to be transferred out of the facility as a result of its closure in a panel on Friday night.

Patients and families will choose their new placement, but a spot as close to home is not guaranteed. Executive Vice President of St. Peter’s Health Partners Continuing Care Network Michelle Mazzacco said the decision to close wasn’t easy.

“We won’t close until everybody has moved,” said Mazzacco.

21 residents have already moved out of the St. Peter’s facility, and another 16 have accepted bed offers in other nursing homes, said Mazzacco. She said the closure is because the building needs $60 million in renovations, and is attracting less patients…
