Schenectady woman gets 11 years for dragging wife with car, hitting friend

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Juanita Moore pleaded guilty in Schenectady County Court to assault charges tied to a 2024 attack on her wife and her wife’s friend, according to court records.

According to the official court summary, Moore pleaded guilty March 25 to one count of First-Degree Assault and one count of First-Degree Attempted Assault. She is set to receive 11 years in prison with five years of post-release supervision on the first count and seven years in prison with five years of post-release supervision on the second count, with the sentences running at the same time.

The court summary says the case began Oct. 31, 2024, when Moore drove a Hertz rental vehicle to a house where she knew her wife was staying with a friend. Prosecutors said Moore fought with her wife, grabbed her, punched her and pulled a kitchen knife during the struggle, cutting her wife’s hand…
