Teen Arrested After Shooting on Bridge Street in Schenectady

Schenectady police arrested an 18-year-old woman, Jada Fitch, after a shooting early Thursday (March 26) left a 19-year-old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers responded around 1:24 a.m. to the 800 block of Bridge Street, where they found the injured man and provided emergency aid before he was transported to a local hospital by Mohawk Ambulance Service. He was last reported in stable condition.

According to police, the shooting followed a brief argument between Fitch and the victim. Investigators say Fitch allegedly fired one shot after confronting the man and remained at the scene when law enforcement arrived. She was taken to police headquarters for questioning and then taken into custody.

Fitch was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal use of a firearm, both Class B felonies, as well as second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, but believe the argument was the immediate cause of the shooting, as reported by CBS6 Albany…
