Illegal handgun seized as part of ongoing Troy investigation

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Troy man was arrested, and an illegal handgun was seized as part of an ongoing investigation. Kareef Abraham, 25, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Troy detectives were in the area of Corliss Park Apartments for their investigation when they spotted Abraham, who appeared to have a handgun. They said he got into a vehicle, and officers conducted a traffic stop.

Abraham was detained, and a search warrant was executed on the vehicle and a nearby apartment. A loaded, illegal handgun was recovered. Police said it contained an extended magazine loaded with 30 rounds, and it was equipped with a conversion device to allow fully-automatic firing.
