Colonie to launch senior transportation pilot program

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Colonie officials are launching a new pilot program to empower senior residents to live independently and remain active in local community activities. GoGo is a pilot rideshare initiative that goes beyond transporting seniors to doctors’ appointments and pharmacy visits.

Offered through a partnership between the Colonie Department of Senior Resources and GoGo Technologies Inc., the new transportation pilot program matches residents with drivers who can accommodate walkers, wheelchairs, and needed assistance. Colonie Department of Senior Resources Director Angelina Sarles said GoGo rides are free and arranged with highly rated local Lyft and Uber drivers who are ready to assist older adults.
