BALLSTON SPA — In a courtroom packed with the victim’s loved ones, Jaiden A. Ildefonso, a 19-year-old from Clifton Park, was sentenced Friday to 15 years to life for killing 20-year-old Simon Brault on May 31.
The victim’s mother, Christine Brault, witnessed the stabbing on the front lawn of the family’s Clifton Park home. “This was brazen, senseless and incomprehensible,” she said in court Friday.
She spoke as Saratoga County Court Judge James R. Davis prepared to impose the prison term — the minimum sentence for second-degree murder. The sentence was part of a plea deal struck by Ildefonso’s attorney and prosecutors before he pleaded guilty to the charge in December.
