ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany will be showcasing one of the area’s best kept culinary secrets this spring with the first ever “Melba Madness” celebration. The restaurant stroll is set for May 16.

Melba Madness will highlight a multitude of beloved Albany establishments offering up an array of gourmet appetizer samples accompanied by melba sauce, the tangy, sweet raspberry dip unique to New York’s Capital Region. Often paired with fried bar food favorites like mozzarella sticks, cheese curds, and even chicken tenders, the tantalizing dark red sauce has developed a ravenous local following that arguably rivals the preference for the standard marinara sauce commonly provided with such dishes.
Attendees will be able to try an array of melba-matched eats and mark off a stamp card for each business they visit. Foodies who gather over 10 stamps will be entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Albany Hot Chocolate Stroll scheduled for December 5.
