CHATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A 9-year-old was hospitalized on Saturday after being hit by a car in Chatham, according to New York State Police. The incident reportedly occurred on State Route 295.

State Police were dispatched to the scene just after 3:45 p.m. Authorities said a car was traveling westbound when the child entered the roadway from the northern shoulder.
The driver reportedly tried to avoid hitting the child but was unsuccessful. The 9-year-old was taken to Albany Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
