Race certifiers map new course for Albany’s Delightful Run for Women amid construction

Before thousands of women take to the streets of Albany for the Delightful Run for Women later this month, a pair of race certifiers must first make sure the new route measures up.

The race is using a new course this year because construction is affecting the typical race route. Diana Bean and Jim Gilmer, race certifiers, were in Albany as they worked to set the new official course.

Bean and Gilmer use bicycles equipped with measuring devices mounted on the front axles. “We have these mounted on our front axles, it’s called the Jones Counter,” Bean said…
