ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany couple Evita Torres and her boyfriend Joseph Crespo are accused of kidnapping and locking Torres’s 10-year-old son inside a room, and abusing him.
According to Albany City Criminal Court records, they’re accused of locking the boy in their 2nd Avenue apartment at unknown times over the course of the last year. While there, he was made to kneel on uncooked rice, was fed small amounts of food and wasn’t allowed to use a toilet.

Torres and Crespo allegedly beat her son with a broomstick to the point of injury. The documents said the couple’s actions caused injury to the child’s mental and physical well being.
Both were arrested on charges of kidnapping, second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. Torres is also charged with second-degree strangulation.
