ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Last year, Albuquerque Public Schools and the United Way of North Central New Mexico launched the “Academies of Albuquerque” program at three high schools, introducing students to career options. This year, the program is expanding to six more high schools.

Kenneth Salazar is the Associate Superintendent of High Schools at APS and he said with regards to the planned updates to the program, “Taking examples of what they’ve (the original three schools) done in their freshman academies as long as their programs of study as well as how they’re working with their students to identify what they’re, how to build in some college and career readiness.”
Students in the program have access to more courses related to certain careers. If those courses aren’t at their school, students can attend them at the career enrichment center near Albuquerque High School…
