JEMEZ SPRINGS — Crews have made progress in containing the McCauley Springs Fire in Sandoval County, with a Sunday update reporting 25% containment.
The fire, first discovered Wednesday, is at 716 acres in the Jemez Ranger District as 385 personnel continue to fight the fire.
“Containment lines were secured and held Saturday during difficult weather conditions. Firefighters achieved containment along portions of Highway 4 and continued to reinforce, secure, and mop up on the south edge of the fire,” Sunday’s release states. “Challenging weather conditions are expected to persist through the weekend, with the possibility of increased fire activity due to hot and dry conditions.”…
