BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — A new free exhibit focusing on farming in the South Valley is opening on Saturday, July 18 at the Gutiérrez-Hubbell House Museum from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibit will feature videos, informational panels, and artwork.
There will also be hands-on activities, focusing on:
- Pueblo farming traditions and the arrival of Spanish colonial agriculture.
- How agriculture changed during the 20th century amid urban growth and water challenges.
- Modern South Valley farming, including local farms, farmers markets, and BernCo programs that support new growers.
The event is family-friendly with indoor and outdoor activities. There will be free paletas,face painting, square dancing, farm-themed arts and crafts, and various activities for children, including a “Build Your Own Farm” craft as well as an adobe mini brick-making station.
