ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A man learned how long he will spend behind bars for shooting his co-worker. Albuquerque police say Manuel Vargas shot Sean Sloan in February of last year at an apartment complex on Skyline Road, just off Juan Tabo.
The victim’s mother called police after she was awakened by the sound of her son pounding on her bedroom door, screaming he had been shot. Police say Vargas shot Sloan in the face and legs, after Sloan says he told Vargas to move out of his apartment.
Sloan survived the shooting, and spoke to the court about the traumatic event. “The person who I once was, the person who I was going to be died that night. I’ll never regain him. No amount of surgeries or therapy will put me back together. If I have a lifelong journey ahead of me, then I ask that he has the maximum penalty,” said Sloan…
