ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Seniors in Albuquerque are frustrated about the rapid price jump and elimination of options for the 20-year-old low-cost breakfast program at senior centers across the city. Since the initial increase last month, the city released a revised menu last week with a few more options. But some seniors say they still want to see more. “I think they presented it as a compromise or giveback,” impacted senior Charles Karns said.

The popular low-cost breakfast program at eight senior centers in the city raised its menu prices and cut back items July 10, but seniors have been pushing back. “They threw us a bone that didn’t work,” impacted senior Angi Gonzales Carver said.
On July 31, the city released a revised menu with some additional items with lower prices. “We put a lot of the community’s input back into the menu,” City of Albuquerque Senior Affairs Director Anna Sanchez said.
