Last Friday, Albuquerque Police responded to a call about a stabbing at the French Quarter Apartments on Palomas Dr. According to police records, 52-year-old Geraldine Begay had stabbed a woman with a knife.
The victim was stabbed in the shoulder; she was taken to the hospital, but died on Sunday because of her injury. Begay was arrested shortly after the stabbing and charged with aggravated battery. That was then upgraded to an “open count of murder”. This isn’t the first time Begay has been accused of murder.
In 2023, Geraldine Begay was arrested, accused of murdering a man after hitting him in the head with an undisclosed object. She was indicted for second-degree murder, but as highlighted in a Larry Barker investigation, she was found to be incompetent. Judge Lucy Solimon ruled Begay “was not dangerous”. The murder charge was dismissed, and she was released. Judge Soliman did not return a phone call for comment regarding that case…
