ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – If you’re waiting on your next PNM bill, don’t be surprised if it shows up late and possibly bigger than you’re used to. PNM said a shortage of meter readers is creating the hold-up. “They’re walking neighborhoods. They walk so much, literally every single day. And they’re out there every single day right now. We just have fewer of them,” said PNM Spokesperson Eric Chavez.

Chavez said they first started noticing the shortage in southern New Mexico around mid-July, and it’s now made its way north to Albuquerque. “Right now we’re seeing about 20% of our customers impacted by this. And again, that, as we’ll get into, means that those customers may see an estimated bill or a delayed bill,” said Chavez.
