ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A long-time Albuquerque staple along Route 66 is getting ready to close its doors. Kap’s Coffee Shop and Diner have served breakfast and lunch to generations of locals but soon that run will come to an end.
For nearly 60 years, it’s been the place where locals can get a hearty New Mexican meal. At Kap’s Coffee and Diner, it’s not just the food that keeps people coming back it’s the memories they’ve made here too.
“My first year in New Mexico I came on New Year’s Day, and I was like super hungover, and I was treated like an absolute princess, and so I’ve been coming back ever since,” said Mariam Bakhtiar, a regular at the diner.
