NM: New Mexico Launches New Center to Train Quantum Technicians

The New Mexico Technology and Innovation Office (TIO), CNM Ingenuity, and Elevate Quantum announced the creation of the New Mexico Quantum Cryogenic Testing & Workforce Development Center, which will train the next generation of quantum technicians and give the state’s growing quantum sector a faster path to designing, testing and deploying next-generation quantum technologies.

The new center will be housed within the Roadrunner Quantum Lab in Albuquerque, one of the country’s leading quantum hubs. Its open-access cryogenic benchmarking and validation capability will provide an independent environment for evaluating cryogenic components and other emerging quantum hardware technologies. Because many quantum components must operate at extremely low temperatures to function reliably, access to specialized cryogenic equipment is critical for developing and testing these technologies. By making this equipment available to companies and researchers, the center will help New Mexico become one of the fastest places in the country to move quantum technologies from design to prototype and deployment.

The center’s training programs will build on the success of CNM Ingenuity’s Quantum Learning Lab, home to the nation’s first Quantum Technician Bootcamp. Students will receive hands-on training with the same equipment used by leading quantum companies and national labs, working in an integrated environment alongside researchers, startups, industry partners and prospective employers…
