New Mexico receives Oscar buzz

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – New Mexico in the Oscar spotlight, thanks to the atom bomb and Cheetos. Today/Tuesday the film Oppenheimer received 13 nods, including best actor, supporting actor, director and best picture. The production chronicled the team behind the Manhattan Project as they developed what would become the atomic bomb. The song, The Fire Inside garnered a Best Original Song nomination. It was featured in the film “Flamin’ Hot” , based on the story of Richard Montañez, who’s said to have invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at Frito-Lay. Eva Longoria directed the film, and it was based in Albuquerque.
