‘I hope you go to hell’: Victims’ families address Albuquerque serial killer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For more than three decades, the murders of two young women and a teenage girl in Albuquerque went cold. That is, until detectives got a bombshell confession from Paul Apodaca , admitting he was the killer. Thursday, cases more than 35 years old came to a close, and the victims’ families got to address the killer.

Apodaca , who turns 56 this weekend, pled guilty in a virtual court hearing Thursday to three murders. He admits to attacking 21-year-old Althea Oakely in June of 1988, stabbing her to death. shooting and killing 13-year-old Stella Gonzales a few months later while she was walking with a friend, then shooting and killing 18-year-old Kaitlyn Arquette as she was driving home from a friend’s house in the summer of 1989.
